*OVER* Exergen TemporalScanner Giveaway & Review

by Renae on March 11, 2010

Temporal Scanner

Have you ever wanted an easier way to check your child’s temperature? Let’s face it, the last thing your sick child wants is to be probed by a thermometer. I was given the opportunity to review the Exergen TemporalScanner. My three year old had a string of never ending ear infections last year and I sure wish we had the Exergen TemporalScanner then! It was a fight to take his temperature.

The Exergen TemporalScanner is very easy to use. You do have to makes sure to take the clear cover off for it to work properly. Simply place the TemperolScanner in the middle of the forehead, hold down the button and gently scan across the forehead until you reach the hairline. Release the button when you reach the hairline and read the display.

Unfortunately, I had a chance to see if the TemperolScanner really worked since I came down with a stomach virus this week! I was able to easily use it on myself. My boys also wanted to try out the new gadget and they did not mind it one bit. In fact, they thought it was fun!

I did get different readings when using the Exergen TemporalScanner if I did not start in the middle of the forehead. As long as you follow the directions, it seemed pretty accurate. It is also very quick to take a reading!

The Exergen TemporalScanner retails for $30-$50 dollars. Amazon currently has the Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer for $33.29 with free Super Saver Shipping. There is also a $5 mail in rebate available from Exergen.

I could really use this for my 2 kids. My son HATES when we try to take his temp. Thanks!

I am a pediatric nurse and have never tried one of these. I am also expecting my 3rd bundle of joy in a month. Would love to try this!

3 Stephanie March 11, 2010 at 3:49 pm

This would be such a relief to have — so much easier to take a temperature on a squirming baby this way!

We’re currently using a 30+ year old forehead thing that is like a mood ring (the colours change according to how hot you are). It’s not exactly the most accurate!
This sounds way better!

I love that you just have to stroke across the forehead to get a temp reading. No more spreading nasty germs with the oral thermometer. Thanks for the chance!

I need this so badly! I just took my daughter (one out of 4 kids) to the doctor and upon checking her temperature, they said “ma’am did you know your daughter has a temp of 102.3?” oops

I’ve been looking at these types of thermometers in the store lately but haven’t decided which one to get–didn’t know of anyone who used it! Our pediatrician has something similar (better quality) and I always wished they made one for at-home use! Will definitely look into this more — would be sooo helpful w/a squirmy toddler!

35 Danielle Miller March 15, 2010 at 11:21 pm

I need one of these. I never got one for my son who is one now. We’ve managed to get by with the stick on themometers so far. They’re great, but hard to get him to sit still so I can read it when he’s sick. With a new baby on the way next month, and a family that rarely bothers with looking at my registries, I would love to have one of these ready to go by the time baby gets here!

Could really use one of these for the kids. They are always coming down with something and they just won’t sit still when it comes to taking their temperatures. This would be so much easier.

52 jengd March 17, 2010 at 7:28 am

I’d love one of these over the traditional thermom! They seem to vary the temp by 2-3 degrees within a minute or 2!

53 Lisa M March 17, 2010 at 8:37 am

Recently had a surgery where they used this in my pre-op. It’s like something from Star Trek!

54 Linda Trucks March 17, 2010 at 8:47 am

I love you girls at Madame Deals. You are the best! I have an 8 month old granddaughter and I could really use this. Thanks.

55 Michele C. March 17, 2010 at 10:50 am

This mother to 5 (2 children under 5) could greatly use this scanner. Such as easier way to get a temperature when the little ones just won’t stay still for a reading.
