Food Pantry Items for the Penny Experiment

by Renae on February 21, 2010

Harris Teeter Super Doubles gave us the perfect opportunity to buy more items for the MACAA Food Pantry. You might recall that we are taking part in the Penny Experiment. The goal is to spend little money and buy the most food possible for the food bank. In order to do this, we need to wait for great sales and awesome coupons!

Amee and I were able to do three transactions at Harris Teeter this week for the food bank. Below is the breakdown:

Unfortunately, I do not have a receipt to show off for transaction #1. The store was very busy. Although I only had 20 coupons total for my items and the food pantry items, I didn’t want to have to explain myself to the cashier. She was already giving me one of those looks when she saw my pile of coupons!

Super Doubles… wow. That concept doesn’t exist within 50 miles of me or my mother, otherwise I’d be all over them!! Fantastic job!

Way to go, ladies! I’m still hoping to get to HT before Wednesday but it’s not looking promising. I so hoped to be able to make it for this Super Doubles event. Maybe I’ll just have to wait for the next triples week.

Mary,
Yes, I wish triples would happen! I think I prefer triples to super doubles. I still had a couple of great trips for myself though. I hope you get the chance to go into town!

I think it’s wonderful that you are making an effort to donate. I would love it if you would link up to my weekly meme, Shop to Give Sunday.
