Saving Money on Date Night

by Renae on February 8, 2010

 Money Saving Monday

The theme for this week on Inexpensively Money Saving Monday is Date Night. February is big month for date nights! It is important to implement a date night on a regular basis though. Date night is something my husband and I have struggled with in the last couple of years due to our young boys. Here are a few tips to help you save money on date night.

First, find a friend or two that is willing to participate in the babysitting co-op. Set up a schedule that works for all of you. It may be as simple as the second Friday every month your friend watches your kids and the fourth Friday you watch her kids. Having a set day will make the date night more likely to happen! Saving money on babysitting will make date night reasonable.

Using coupons for restaurants is another way to keep date night in your budget. Sign up for e-mail newsletters for your favorite restaurants. Many times they will send you discounts or buy one, get one free offers. Another option is to use an Entertainment Book. Although you will have the initial out of pocket expense, if you eat out frequently you will quickly recoup the expense.

Date night does not have to extravagant to be fun. The best part is spending time together without kid interference!

What are your date night ideas to save money?

I use my older son to babysit (and bribe him with future video game rentals!)
and girl…we use restaurant.com EVERY Friday night! I love it. I don’t think we’d be able to eat out without it!
LOVE those Entertainment books also…although, I was forced to buy five of them this year when my teenage son let chocolate melt all over them in his backpack (so, I had to buy them…darn school fundraisers!)
Looks like we’re doing all the things that we can…can’t wait to see what your other readers are doing!

Kathy,
Yes, Restaurant.com is great! I have used them when we go on vacation. Our direct area doesn’t have great restaurant’s listed (at least the last time I checked!).
Thanks for sharing!
