Holiday from the Heart: Homemade Gifts

Last year I decided to give a lot of homemade gifts. As I have discussed before, I have been canning goods for the last three years. My sister-in-law, Cathy, and I canned a whole bushel of pickles last year (yeah, we kind of over did it when ordering the pickling cucumbers!). When the pickles were complete and we discovered we had enough for an army, it was determined that everyone would receive pickles... I mean canned goods for Christmas! My parents are always a challenge to buy gifts for; ...

I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can't see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato's closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast! You all ...

Ask a Teacher: Should I read to a baby?

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

This is an easy one. Yes! read to your baby before they are born. They love your voice. Then read to them as soon as they come out. This will help you spend quality time together. I read chick lit to my daughter for the first 6 months of her life. I needed something to do while feeding her. I was also so sleep deprived that it was the only thing I could miss a couple of pages and still get the plot. We now read together as a family before bed. We also read as soon as my son gets home from school ...

Madame Deals is going to start a new series for the approaching Holiday season. Come back every Sunday for fun and inexpensive  Holiday ideas! My son Mason turned three last week. Thanks to the USO

Hi all, I wanted to share a great travel tip if you are military. If you are at an airport or heading to a new city, check to see if there is a local USO. I am on my way to my sister-in- laws wedding and lo and behold we were rerouted to North Carolina's airport. They have the most amazing USO here. The staff is kind and considerate and above all helpful. They made us feel like we were at home. My children are enjoying DVD's and toys that they have onsite. They have a big screen TV with huge ...
