Magic Jack Review

So I talk a lot! I mean a lot! Our phone bill has only grown in recent years because now my son wants to call everyone and talk to them. He even calls his cousin who is 3 and chats with her. Our phone bill and my cell phone bill were out of control. I decided to take control and do something about it. I have had vontage and I use skype but I wanted something that I could use my existing phone with. I also wanted something that my husband could use when he travels all over the world. I have only ...

Rachel Ray? What's for Dinner Wednesday

I try every week to add a new meal to our menu. I attempt to follow the food guru and 30 minute meal making queen, Rachel Ray. The best part of my quest is I use items that I bought on sale so these meals are yummy and affordable... an oh, yes they can be completed in 30 minutes or less! I have a chicken emergency? A what? A chicken emergency... I have to much chicken and I need to empty my freezer so I can make soup. Spanish Chicken and Rice See it made HERE 3 cups reserved homemade chicken ...

Tuesday's Tip

Get organized. The easiest way to save money is to get organized. I am working toward this goal. This weekend I bought apple juice; 3 of them. I went to put the apple juice in their optimal location and there sat 2 apple juice bottles. I now have a stockpile of apple juice, which isn't that awful. However, I spent $5 out of my $100.00 budget on something we didn't need right now. So how am I going to avoid this in the future? I am going to stick with my list. I place my Madame Deals list on my ...

Make a Trip Countdown Calendar

We are leaving next week for a vacation to California. My three year old loves airplanes and can't wait to go! In fact, he asks non-stop "can we go on an airplane now, pleeeease?". This morning my wonderfully artistic husband made the above calendar! Everyday we will cross off a block on the calendar to countdown until trip day. You could make a countdown calendar for a number of things; holidays, birthdays or grandparent's visits. ...

Holiday from the Heart: Homemade Gifts

Last year I decided to give a lot of homemade gifts. As I have discussed before, I have been canning goods for the last three years. My sister-in-law, Cathy, and I canned a whole bushel of pickles last year (yeah, we kind of over did it when ordering the pickling cucumbers!). When the pickles were complete and we discovered we had enough for an army, it was determined that everyone would receive pickles... I mean canned goods for Christmas! My parents are always a challenge to buy gifts for; ...

Rachel Ray: The Coupon Show

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

You all know how much Madame Deals likes Rachel Ray! We post a recipe of hers every Wednesday. Well, on Rachel's show yesterday,  couponing was a topic. There are some interesting statistics mentioned: only 1% of coupons are ever redeemed and the people most likely to use coupons are those in the higher income categories. The expert on the show tells you to place your coupons in your car visor. I definitely wouldn't suggest that! I can just picture coupons cluttering the highway when the ...

Fashion Friday

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can't see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato's closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast! You all ...

Ask a Teacher: Should I read to a baby?

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

This is an easy one. Yes! read to your baby before they are born. They love your voice. Then read to them as soon as they come out. This will help you spend quality time together. I read chick lit to my daughter for the first 6 months of her life. I needed something to do while feeding her. I was also so sleep deprived that it was the only thing I could miss a couple of pages and still get the plot. We now read together as a family before bed. We also read as soon as my son gets home from school ...
